Cowboys Rookie DT Maliek Collins Breaks Foot

Collins was selected in the third round by the Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys’ defensive line just can’t catch a break.

On Wednesday, it was revealed that Cowboys’ third round pick Maliek Collins suffered a broken right foot during organized team activities (OTAs) at Valley Ranch last week. Collins has already undergone surgery, which comes with a timetable of 10-12 weeks. This would would mean he'll miss the rest of spring practices and most of training camp.

The 67th overall pick two months ago, there were whispers that the defensive tackle might be the steal of the 2016 draft for the Cowboys, but it’s hard to imagine this injury won’t slow his development.

The Cowboys are already preparing to open the season with two young defensive linemen, Randy Gregory and DeMarcus Lawrence, suspended for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Each is set to sit out the first four games of the season.
