Cowboys Release LeQuan Lewis

The special teams ace was signed by Dallas just two weeks ago

The Dallas Cowboys roster is down to 52 after the team released special teams specialist LeQuan Lewis on Tuesday, just a couple weeks after pilfering him from the New York Jets’ practice squad.

Lewis appeared in three games for Dallas, mostly on special teams but he got a few snaps on defense late in the week three victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He served as the gunner on punt team, and was a middle coverage guy on kickoffs.

Lewis’ most memorable moment in his stint with the Cowboys (unless we’re forgetting something) came in the Buccaneers game, when he goaded an opposing player into a personal foul, and then was caught on camera laughing about what he had just done. It was pretty funny.

What with it being the bye week, and since Dallas now has a vacant roster spot, we wouldn’t be surprised if more personnel changes come down between now and the team’s week six matchup with the Ravens in Baltimore.
