Cowboys Release Bryan McCann

When it was reported earlier this week that the Dallas Cowboys would re-sign veteran receiver Laurent Robinson, it was clear that they would have to release someone in order to make room for Robinson on the roster--we just weren’t sure who it would be.

Turns out, it was SMU product and reserve cornerback Bryan McCann. The Cowboys released McCann on Tuesday.

McCann likely became expendable with the signing of veteran corner Frank Walker last week, and, this week, reports that the long-injured Terence Newman is on the brink of returning to game action in week three. In the Cowboys’ week two victory over the 49ers in San Francisco, McCann did not see a snap on defense.

With the move, the Cowboys’ stable of corners includes Newman, Walker, Mike Jenkins, Alan Ball and Orlando Scandrick, the latter of which will miss at least another two weeks with a high ankle sprain.
