Cowboys Nominated For “Most Metal Athlete” Honors

We've always had an inkling that Marc Colombo, Leonard Davis and Cory Procter--the Cowboys' offensive linemen who comprise three quarters of the metal quartet Free Reign--were pretty metal; in fact, according to Free Reign's website, they are "heavier than metal," a claim corroborated by a quick glance at the Cowboys team program.

But now, they have an opportunity to bring home some hardware as proof of their outstanding metal-ness. What's more, you can help them.

The three linemen have been nominated for a Revolver Magazine Golden Gods Award in the category of Most Metal Athlete.

Competing against the three for the honor are MMA fighter and alleged steroid enthusiast Josh Barnett; former Major League Baseball player Mike Piazza, who appears on a Black Label Society record and is the godfather of Zakk Wylde's son; WWE wrestler Chris Jericho, who is the front-man for metal act Fozzy; pro skater and radio host Jason Ellis; and pro motocross rider (and darling of Travis Pastrana's Nitro Circus ) Jolene Van Vugt.

The Golden Gods Awards 2010 will take place on April 8 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, and will be broadcast on VH1 Classic. Fans can vote for the winners here.
