Cowboys Meeting With Manti Te'o

It's widely thought that Te'o could fall to or past the Cowboys at No. 18

We should preface this by saying that this might not--nay, almost certainly doesn’t, mean anything. But according to the Dallas Morning News, the Dallas Cowboys will meet with Notre Dame linebacker/Heisman runner-up/former national laughing stock Manti Te’o while in Indianapolis for the NFL Scouting Combine.

A great deal of these interviews come about simply because conducting these interviews is just what you do at the Combine. That said, following the unfolding of the now-infamous nonexistent girlfriend hoax, it’s widely believed that Te’o will fall to the last first-/early-second round.

Dallas picks at 18th, but has much more pressing needs along the offensive and defensive line. Head coach Jason Garrett has already gone on record as saying the team is optimistic about their inside backers, Sean Lee and Bruce Carter, vis a vis their ability to transition under Monte Kiffin.

“They both did a really good job as 3-4 inside linebackers and I think we have a really good tandem playing the inside there,” Garrett said, per the Morning News. “But if you look at those guys and their history, they have been guys who have been protected by defensive linemen like you are in a  4-3 style of defense. They both run to the ball really well. They make a lot of plays so we feel the transition at that second level will be fairly comfortable for those guys.”
