The Dallas Cowboys couldn’t quite complete the comeback against the visiting Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night, and as a result of the 24-22 loss, their season is over.

The Eagles jumped out to a 10-0 lead early with a 47-yard field goal by Alex Henery and, then, a three-yard touchdown reception by running back LeSean McCoy. The pass capped an 88-yard drive.

Dallas answered with a six-play, 66-yard drive, capped by an impressive touchdown pass from tonight’s starter, Kyle Orton, to rookie tight end Gavin Escobar to make it 10-7.

Following an interception by Orton, which bounced off Jason Witten’s hands and into those of Mychal Kendrick, the Eagles found paydirt again. This time, it came on a touchdown pass from Nick Foles to tight end Brent Celek.

Dan Bailey hit a 44-yard field goal with less than a minute left in the half to pull the Cowboys within a score again at 17-10 before the half.

The Cowboys pulled within a point in the third quarter with 43- and 36-yard field goals by Bailey. But in the fourth, Philadelphia answered.

Eagles running back Bryce Brown capped a 60-yard drive with a six-yard touchdown run to pull ahead 24-16 midway through the quarter. Dallas came back with a 32-yard touchdown pass from Orton to Dez Bryant, but the two-point conversion--again targeted at Bryant--failed.

The defense forced a punt from the Eagles after that, but on the first play of the ensuing possession, Orton was picked off by Brandon Boykin, ending it.

With a final of 24-22, the Cowboys finish the season 8-8 for a third straight year.

They’ve also lost win-and-in games for three straight years now.
