Cowboys Lose to Broncos, Finish Preseason Winless

Dallas fell to Denver on Thursday, 27-3

The Dallas Cowboys fell to the Denver Broncos by a final of 27-3 on Thursday night, and finish the preseason 0-4.

After Brandon Weeden was intercepted by Tony Carter on a first and 10 in the first quarter, the Broncos got on the board with a one-yard touchdown run by CJ Anderson. Anderson finished the half with 32 yards on 14 carries.

Weeden would finish 6-12 passing for 75 yards and the pick. Dustin Vaughan, who replaced Weeden in the second half, finished 11-17 for 85 yards. He was also sacked four times behind a backup offensive line that looked, well, just awful.

The Cowboys managed a 23-yard field goal from Dan Bailey in the second quarter, but Denver answered at the end of the half with a field goal of their own, a 19-yard strike from Brandon McManus.

The second half would be all Broncos. Rookie running back Kapri Bibbs took in two touchdown runs in the third quarter to extend the lead to 24-3. McManus added a 39-yard field goal with 30 seconds left for good measure.

The newly signed (and probably soon to be cut) Phillip Tanner led the team in rushing with 26 yards on eight carries.

The Cowboys open the regular season next Sunday against the 49ers at AT&T Stadium.
