Cowboys Give Orton 3-Year Deal: ESPN

Orton to backup Romo, McGee still in No. 3 spot

ESPN's Adam Schefter Tweeted Kyle Orton has reached a three-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

Orton, 31, has played for the Bears, Broncos and Chiefs in his eight seasons in the NFL.  He has started 69 games, including five last year in Denver and three in Kansas City.

The Cowboys have pushed for a veteran to backup starting quarterback Tony Romo instead of No. 3 guy Stephen McGee.

A wise move with Romo giving former backup Jon Kitna plenty of playing time of the last few seasons (14 games, 9 in which Kitna started).
