The Cowboys need to draft a franchise quarterback. Tony Romo is an older and while still a upper echelon QB, he’s dealt with injuries.
What is the backup plan? What is the plan for the future at quarterback?
Dallas needs to fix that with the fourth overall pick in the draft.
Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com recently put up his first mock draft and has the Cowboys taking North Dakota State signal caller Carson Wentz who recently won the national championship in Frisco this month.
“The Cowboys will get a chance to coach Wentz at the Senior Bowl and I think they'll fall in love with him,” the former NFL personnel man said
The outrage on my twitter page was surprising. The overwhelming groupthink was, “He’s not worth the fourth pick, trade down and get him.”
The Cowboys need to take their guy at number four.

If they think Wentz can be the Romo replacement, then take him at four. Trading down is dumb and risky.
Two years ago, Jacksonville drafted quarterback Blake Bortles third overall and many, including myself, said Bortles was overdrafted.
We were all wrong. Bortles was tied for second in the NFL in passing touchdowns with 35.
The others who were tied with Bortles 35 TD passes? Eli Manning, Cam Newton and Carson Palmer.
All three of those signal callers were drafted as overall number one picks.
