Cowboys Drop Dress Rehearsal Game to Dolphins, 25-20

The Cowboys are now 0-3 this preseason

The Dallas Cowboys played an ugly dress rehearsal game on Saturday night, and fell to the Dolphins in Miami by a final of 25-20.

Tony Romo ended up playing the entire first half, going 10 for 18 passing for 87 yards. The bad news, he was sacked three times. The good news, he wasn’t hurt by any of those sacks.

DeMarco Murray ran the ball for 18 yards on six carries, and Dez Bryant posted 32 yards on four carries, all in the first half.

The Cowboys’ defense was, uh, the Cowboys’ defense. They allowed 491 yards and 27 first downs on Saturday night.

The Dolphins opened the scoring with a 26-yard field goal by John Potter to give them 3-0 lead in the first quarter.

Dallas’s Dan Bailey tied it up with a 52-yarder later in the first and, then, gave his team the lead with a 50-yarder with less than a minute left in the half.

The Dolphins regained the lead in the second quarter on a one-yard touchdown run from Damien Williams. Williams also ran in the two-point conversion to extend the lead to 11-6, Dolphins.

The Cowboys responded with less than a minute left in the half as backup quarterback Brandon Weeden hit LaRon Byrd--who made a diving catch--for a 27-yard touchdown. With that, Dallas retook the lead. They extended that lead to 20-11 on a pick-six from rookie cornerback Tyler Patmon.

The Cowboys’ defense struck again late though, allowing two fourth quarter touchdowns--on a pass from Marlon Moore to Harold Hoskins , and a one-yard run by Orleans Darkwa--and one two-point conversion. Dallas lost by a final of 25-20, and are 0-3 this preseason.

The preseason finale is scheduled for Thursday, against the Broncos, at AT&T Stadium.
