The Dallas Cowboys defense gave up 401 yards and three touchdowns to Philip Rivers in the loss to the Chargers on Sunday, and things aren’t going to get any easier this week.
Peyton Manning leads a 4-0 Broncos team into Arlington, to take on the Cowboys in Week Five--the future Hall of Famer’s AT&T Stadium debut.
“It’s going to be a tough game,” said middle linebacker Sean Lee, per ESPN Dallas. “We’ve got a tough schedule. We’ve got to start winning week in and week out and you’ve got to play great quarterbacks and great teams every week. Until we lock it down and beat teams week in and week out we’re going to be that 8-8 football team.”
As you might imagine, defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin wasn’t pleased with his unit’s performance against Rivers and co. To wit, the team allowed more than 500 total yards on Sunday and, though Lee came down with an interception and ran it in for a touchdown, they only sacked Rivers once.
“That's not good,” Kiffin said. “Last time I checked, the quarterback ratings came out this week [and] No. 1 was Manning. Guess who number two was? Rivers.”
