Before Tony Romo can take the field Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, the Dallas Cowboys had to add him back on the active roster.
To make room for Romo's return, the team cut backup quarterback Brandon Weeden Tuesday.
Weeden was the backup when the team started the 2015 season and was pressed into service in Week 2 when Romo went down with a fractured collarbone in a win over the Eagles.
He started three games in Romo's absence, going 0-3 before the team picked up quarterback Matt Cassel.
As Weeden's replacement, Cassel went 0-4.
The Cowboys also waived cornerback Corey White and running back Christine Michael. White was acquired off waivers from New Orleans in the offseason, and Dallas traded a late-round pick to Seattle for Michael the first week of the season.
The dumping of Michael leaves Dallas with two rookie backups to Darren McFadden with two career carries combined -- both by Rod Smith for Seattle before he was waived by the Seahawks last month.
