Cowboys Aren't Considering Chad Johnson

Johnson was cut by the Dolphins earlier this week after being arrested on charges of domestic violence

When asked about the possibility of the Dallas Cowboys bringing in free agent receiver Chad Johnson this week, head coach Jason Garrett came about as close to saying “not a snowball’s chance in hell” as he ever will.

The receiver formerly known as Chad Ochocinco was released by the Miami Dolphins earlier this week in the wake of his arrest on charges of domestic violence. Meanwhile, the Cowboys’ race for the No. 3 receiver spot remains pretty wide open--so, someone had to ask, would Dallas give Johnson a look?

"We haven't had any discussions about Chad Johnson," Garrett said, per ESPN Dallas.

If Dallas is to be taken at their word, they have no intention of bringing in a veteran receiver, opting instead to let youngsters like Kevin Ogletree and Andre Holmes (among a slew of others) battle it out. And even if the team was interested in acquiring some veteran insurance, it seems far more likely that they’d (a) wait until final cuts and grab someone off waivers or (b) consider Plaxico Burress, who is still on the market.
