Cowboys Add LB Kelvin Smith To Practice Squad

The Dallas Cowboys signed linebacker Kelvin Smith to the practice squad on Monday, filling one to the two open spots left by the promotions of tight end Martin Rucker and running back Lonyae Miller, and the release of tight end Scott Chandler.

Smith was selected out of Syarcuse by the Miami Dolphins in the seventh round of the 2007 draft. He played in four games that season, and appeared in two games for the Carolina Panthers in 2009, which is the whole of his experience as a member of a team’s active roster.

He has also spent time with the Chicago Bears and the New York Giants, but his experience at each stop was limited to the practice squad. Smith was among the final cuts for Chicago in 2010.
