Head coach Wade Phillips of the Dallas Cowboys walks onto the field ahead of his team prior to the start of the game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Apparently, Ken Hamlin and Flozell Adams aren’t the only fat being trimmed from the Dallas Cowboys this off-season. Head coach Wade Phillips is intent on looking a little more like the University of Houston linebacker who earned a starting role from 1966 to 1968, and a little less like a silver-haired Barney Gumble.
Through a combination of diet and exercise, the head coach is attempting to slim down before training camp commences next month in San Antonio.
That is, Coach Cupcake is cutting down on his namesake desert dish.
Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News
has reported that Phillips has already dropped 30 pounds from his frame, and has no plans to slow down in his attempts to shape up.
“You tell the players to train, so you better do it yourself,'' Phillips said. ``It's about leadership by example.''
