Dallas Cowboys’ first round pick Morris Claiborne is still a relatively long way away from getting on the practice field in the blue and white of the Cowboys for the first time, but after having his cast removed, he’s a step closer--and the rookie is pretty excited about it.

"Im FREEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!", Claiborne tweeted Tuesday, with an attached photo of his wrist, sans cast.

This week, the sixth overall pick in the 2012 draft said he would wear a removable brace over the next couple weeks before beginning recuperative therapy--he still sees his return coming around the beginning of training camp. And though Claiborne seems to be chomping at the bit to get to work with Dallas, he doesn’t intend to rush back in a way that will hurt him in the long run.

"I don't like it but I know it's what's best for me and in the long run what's best for the team," Claiborne said, per the Dallas Morning News. "I'm not trying to rush it. I'm just going to take my time and do what the trainers have me doing in the mean time."
