Checking In With The Redskins

*Punter Hunter Smith was cut by the Redskins on Tuesday, only a couple days after botching the snap on what would have been a game-tying extra point attempt against the Buccaneers on Sunday.

In his place, the team signed Sam Paulescu.

*Safety LaRon Landry was placed on the injured reserve on Monday with an Achilles injury. The injury had already cost Landry the team’s last four games. Cornerback Carlos Rogers, however, will likely return for the game against Dallas after missing three of the last four games with hamstring injuries.

*If it wasn’t already clear before Tuesday night that the honeymoon between Washington D.C. and ‘Skins’ quarterback Donovan McNabb is over... McNabb was booed heavily by the home crowd at the Wizards-Lakers game in D.C. on Tuesday night.

This follows a number of reports in which the possibility that backup Rex Grossman will soon replace McNabb as the starter is floated as a very real one. Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer, who first reported the possibility of this happening, cited Grossman splitting first team reps with McNabb in practice last week.
