Carr: Under Kiffin, Cowboys CBs Will Be Getting Physical

Monte Kiffin has already made clear that Dallas cornerbacks will be doing a lot more tackling in 2013

For four seasons in Kansas City, cornerback Brandon Carr played in a system not unlike that run by Monte Kiffin and, as such, with Kiffin in town, he has some idea of what to expect--where the cornerbacks are concerned, this means they'll be expected to play a more physical brand of football under the 72-year-old Kiffin.

“They already told us to pretty much get ready for 16 weeks of being as physical as you can be,” Carr said, per the Dallas Morning News. “Not only disrupting the timing of the receivers but also when our number is called to come up and stop the run and come up and tackle.”

Carr went on to point out that this sort of approach to secondary play has paid dividends in recent years.

“That’s what corners were doing in the playoffs,” he said. “That’s what secondaries are doing, stopping those big runs and at the same time still covering. So it’s going to take all 11 guys this year to get the job done and we finally see that now.”
