CBS To Air Eight Thursday Night Games in '14

The NFL Network and CBS will team to simulcast eight games early in 2014

The NFL has announced that eight NFL Network Thursday Night Football games early in the 2014 season will be simulcast on CBS.

The deal is for next season only, but the league has an option to extend it through 2015.

NFL Network built Thursday into a night for NFL fans,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement, per ProFootballTalk.com. “Our goal is to bring these games to more fans on broadcast television with unprecedented promotion and visibility for Thursday Night Football on CBS.”

The NFL Network will still air eight games, later in the season, not simulcast on CBS. The early-season games that are simulcast will present a mix of on-air talent for pre-game and post-game, with CBS providing their announcing team of Jim Nantz and Phil Simms for the game itself.
