David Buehler Has A Rough Thursday

The Dallas Cowboys have been pleased with the development of former kickoff specialist David Buehler, who will serve as the team’s place kicker in 2010, but on Thursday, the second-year USC product had a rough go of it in practice, missing on four of seven attempts in the Oxnard wind.

Buehler has made five of six attempts in the team’s two preseason games. After the Cincinnati game, in which Buehler committed his only miss thus far, a bad miss on a 49-yard attempt, he was visibly frustrated. On Thursday, that feeling returned, but Buehler said that Saturday’s exhibition in San Diego could provide some consolation.

"You never want to have an off day," he said, per the Dallas Morning News, "but luckily I have a game on Saturday to redeem myself."

After practice, Buehler met with coach Chris Boniol and attempted another series of attempts, reportedly making each. Special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis has been happy with Buehler’s progress, but admits that Buehler still has some work to do. At any rate, he will have another chance at proving himself in a game situation on Saturday, when Dallas travels to San Diego for the third of their five preseason games in 2010.
