Bruce Carter Questions Decrease in Playing Time

Carter isn't exactly clear on why his playing time has been cut signficiantly over the past two weeks

Cowboys linebacker Bruce Carter doesn’t sound thrilled about the relativelysparse amount of playing time he’s seen over the past two weeks. According to the team’s official website, Carter played just about half of all defensive snaps against the Lions and the Vikings.

Carter has been splitting time with Ernie Sims since Week 5, following a loss to the Chargers in which the third-year North Carolina product struggled pretty mightily. Carter hinted this week that perhaps the team’s response to his poor performance in that game was a bit of an overreaction.

“I feel like everybody has a bad game every now and then, but to go to this stage… I don’t know,” Carter said. “I just feel like I’ve got to make the most of my opportunity.”

Carter’s opportunities have been fluctuating of late. He saw the lion’s share of snaps in Weeks 6 and 7 (both wins, over the Eagles and the Redskins) before seeing his playing time cut pretty drastically in the past two weeks for reasons that remain unclear to Carter.

“To be honest, I really don’t even know,” Carter said. “It really wasn’t legit, but I mean, it is what it is.”
