Brandon Carr Undergoes Successful Hand Surgery

Carr suffered a broken bone in his hand in practice last week

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr is expected to rejoin his teammates in Oxnard on Tuesday, after undergoing successful surgery on his hand. The Cowboys haven’t decided yet whether Carr will travel with the team to San Diego for Thursday’s preseason opener.

I’m going to take care of it then come back and take it day by day,” Carr said over the weekend, per the Dallas Morning News. “I’m going to listen to my trainers and coaches and be smart.”

Carr is going into his 8th season in the NFL and his fourth with the Cowboys. He has never missed a game due to injury, and the team has compared his injury to the one DeMarco Murray suffered and played through down the stretch of the 2014 season.

“We don’t think it’s serious,” Garrett said. “It’s a similar injury to what DeMarco Murray had last year when he played in the game, four or five days later. The biggest thing with this is getting the surgery done correctly, which we’re confident is going to happen, and then handling the incision and see what he’s capable of doing.”
