Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr was widely expected to be cut this offseason, thanks in great part to the size of his contract.

Carr has underachieved in Dallas, certainly—he has now gone two full seasons without an interception—but the impetus to cut ties with him would have come more from the fact that he came to town on a massive five-year, $50 million deal.

But Carr hasn’t been cut yet, and he doesn’t view his contract as a burden.

It is what you make it,” Carr said, per the Dallas Morning News. “It is how you view it, whatever your perception is of it. I don't look at it as a burden. It's pretty cool to have that challenge each and every week that teams know [I'm] the marquee guy so to speak or whatever you want to call it, so you've got the bull's eye on your back and you work hard to get that title and you've got to work even harder to keep it.

“That's just my process right now, continue to grind to get back to form.”
