On Sunday, Titans' quarterback and Texas product Vince Young was cited for assault at a Dallas strip club after he appeared to attack a fellow patron who flashed the upside-down hook-em sign. Everyone seems to have an opinion on the matter, but few are as readily visible as that of Martellus Bennett, the Cowboys' back-up tight end whose presence on Twitter and YouTube have been well-documented for some time now.
Bennett addressed the incident on his Twitter account Monday, in response to a user who asked his opinion on the matter. (All sic).
"Mann I dunno wat 2 say abt VY that was childish & very unprofessional u cant do [expletive] like that when u play qb," Bennett Tweeted. "He needs better ppl round him."
Bennett then added, "Nothing really good happens at 3 am unless u n ur bedroom."
Although Bennett is an Aggie and Young, obviously, is a Longhorn, the third-year tight end said Tuesday that he had "nothing but love" for the Titans quarterback and expressed some remorse over the publicity his remarks had received in a four-tweet address--however, he added that he didn't regret what he said.
"I would like to apologize I wasn't trying to make the headlines when I responded to a tweet asking what I thought about VYs ... Situation. Didn't wanna draw anymore negative attn to it. And for that I'm sorry. I wasn't tryna rip vince or anything I was jus saying. ... Didn't think it was the rgt decision. Making several stupid ones myself I know how it is. I have nothing but love for the homie."
"Don't regret what I said jus nvr wanna make anyone elses situation worse."
