After emerging in 2009 as the Dallas Cowboys’ no. 1 receiver, with 81 catches for 1,320 yards and 11 touchdowns, Miles Austin has come back to earth in 2010. It’s not as though he’s been bad, necessarily; he has 67 catches for 979 yards and seven touchdowns; but he also leads the team in drops with ten.
For Austin, the downturn in production, and upswing in drops, come as a disappointment. But the breakout star of 2009 is far more disappointed in the team’s record than his individual shortcomings.
Austin’s ten drops on the year equal Roy Williams’ total from 2009. Terrell Owens had 17 drops in 2006, and because the stat hasn’t been tracked all that long, it is unknown whether anyone has ever committed more than Owens’ total from that year.
"My main goal is to win games," Austin said. "I didn’t have my best year this year."
