Austin Addresses Drops

On the back of a 2009 season in which Miles Austin burst on the scene with 81 catches for 1,320 yards and 11 touchdowns, the Monmouth product earned a six-year, $54 million extension from the Dallas Cowboys. Since then, he’s led the team in another, more dubious category: drops.

It isn’t as though Austin is having a bad season, per se. Through 13 games in 2010, he has 58 catches for 826 yards and five touchdowns, but he also has eight drops, the most on the team.

Last week against the Eagles, on what could’ve been described as a drop, Austin tipped the ball before it was intercepted. Austin discussed this and other drops on Wednesday.

"Drops happen for different reasons," Austin said, per ESPN Dallas. "The one last week was a tough catch. It would have been a tough catch. It would have been great if I would have made it. It kind of got on me real quick and tips up.

"I'm working. I'm in practice. I didn't have any drops today. I've just got to take it one day at a time."
