Are You Ready For An AJ Feeley Party?

After losing their past two games in rather excruciating fashion, your Dallas Cowboys are desperately in need of a winnable game on Sunday, and lo and behold! Who should come staggering into town but the 0-5 St. Louis Rams. AVERT YOUR GAZE! The Rams play so ugly, one glance at their offense will turn you to stone. There are plenty of reasons the Rams have played so poorly this season, most of them I like to pin on Josh McDaniels. But injuries have also ravaged the St. Louis roster, and now they stand to face the Cowboys without their most important player. From Yahoo:

Quarterback Sam Bradford(notes) has a high ankle sprain and his status is in doubt for the game against the Dallas Cowboys... Bradford was seen wearing a walking boot on his left foot. The Rams were hoping that their bye in Week Five would have helped the team heal and turn the corner. Instead, things are only getting worse... If Bradford misses the game, A.J. Feeley(notes) will get the start.

Feeley hasn't taken a snap in the NFL since 2007. HOLY FRIJOLE! Since that time, I assume he's done some time in prison and worked several odd jobs. For his career, Feeley has thrown more picks than TDs, and only once managed to average more than 200 yards a game. He's awful.

And that means, as we pointed out here, the Cowboys have NO excuse this time around. At 2-3 and with the Eagles sneaking up on them, losing this game would pretty much end the season. After holding the Pats to their lowest scoring output in ages, the Cowboys need to hold down Feeley and the Rams and choke the life out of them. I know no win in the NFL is a gimme, but this one should be. To call it a trap game is an insult to trap games. This is an oasis. A brief respite. If the Cowboys can't capitalize, then you can write off 2011.
