Amobi Okoye To Practice on Thursday

Okoye missed the 2013 season and all offseason with a rare illness

After missing over a year with a serious and rare brain condition, Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Amobi Okoye will return to practice this week.

According to ESPN, Okoye will return Thursday.

He didn’t play at all in 2013 after being diagnosed with anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis, and spent part of last year in a medically induced coma, putting his NFL future in jeopardy. Nonetheless, Dallas signed him to a one-year deal in the offseason, setting up a reunion between Okoye and defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli, who spent time together in Chicago.

Since signing, Okoye has been limited to doing rehab work with strength and conditioning coach Mike Woicik. Thursday will mark Okoye’s first time practicing since 2012.
