Ajayi: I'd Love to be a Cowboy

Jay Ajayi was a star running back for a breakout Frisco Liberty team just a few years ago, and now he might have the opportunity to not only return to the Metroplex but to his hometown, which also happens to be the Cowboys' future headquarters in a couple of years.

Boise State had its pro day on Wednesday, and the Cowboys were most definitely in attendance with a plethora of Broncos already on their roster such as Orlando Scandrick, DeMarcus Lawrence and Tyrone Crawford.

“I would love to play for the Cowboys,” said Ajayi, whose family is originally from London but moved to Frisco before he starred for Frisco Liberty. “If it happens to be the Cowboys I know my family will be excited for being back home in North Texas.”

As the team's official website pointed out, Ajayi was a standout at the NFL scouting combine last month, as he finished in the top five of running backs in the 20-yard shuttle, the broad jump and the vertical jump, and he had the fourth fastest time in the 60-yard shuttle among all combine participants, regardless of position.

He isn't a first-round projection like Melvin Gordon and Todd Gurley, but Ajayi is considered one of the better prospects in an incredibly deep running back class entering the draft next month.

He's proven he can handle the load between the tackles, and also has been an accomplished receiver out of the backfield with 50 catches for 535 yards last season for the Broncos.
