After First Round, Romo, Walker Lead Adams Golf Pro-Scratch Championship

Locked out of NFL facilities, many NFL players have shown an interest in crossing over to other sports in their free time, while preparing for the possibility that there will be a season in 2011.

Bengals’ receiver Chad Ochocinco has spent time with Sporting Kansas City of the MLS; running backs Chris Johnson, of the Titans and Vikings respectively, have talked about competitive sprinting; Ravens’ safety Tom Zbikowski has a boxing match set for June 6 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Considering, Tony Romo’s offseason interest in golf seems anything but worrisome for Cowboys fans, and we say that knowing that a moderate-to-large faction of fans honestly believe that golf is a major distraction for Romo. Those fans may now want to exit their browser, as the rest of this post is pretty much about how Romo is playing in a tournament this week, and doing well.

The Cowboys’ quarterback and partner Mark Walker are in the lead at the Adams Golf Pro-Scratch Championship after the first round on Monday, at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney. Romo’s team shot a 64, 8-under par for the course. Three teams are tied for second, at 5-under.

The final round will be held today. The team of Romo and Walker finished second last year and won the year before.
