Dallas Cowboys receiver A.J. Jenkins may very well be on the outside looking in when the team has to trim the roster to 53, but he’s at least making a push for a spot with Devin Street nursing an ankle injury and Dez Bryant still limited.

"I'm definitely getting my confidence back," Jenkins said, per Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas. "I'm in the playbook and trying to feel like myself back again."

Jenkins had a pair of catches for 20 yards in the preseason loss to the 49ers last weekend. The 49ers, of course, are the team that drafted Jenkins with the 30th overall pick of the 2012 Draft. His time there was, uh, disappointing--to the point that he never caught a pass for the team. He was targeted once in his one year with the 49ers and dropped that pass.

From there Jenkins spent the past two seasons with the Chiefs, where he fared a little better, catching 17 passes 223 yards.

After such a rough start in the NFL, Jenkins admits that he’s somewhat motivated by a desire to prove people wrong.

"Trying to prove myself also," Jenkins said. "I haven't been on a team (for a long time). I've been bouncing around. I have to prove to myself I can do it."
