Only 2,200 inmates (and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice) stand in the way of a high-profile entertainment complex planned for the Trinity River's east bank.

Dawson State Jail sits near the gateway of the Trinity River project, housing state inmates. Agency spokeswoman Michelle Lyons told the Dallas Morning News that, "absent the Legislature's direction, we have no plans to move this jail."

That's a big problem for Brian Caine's east bank project that plans to include a hotel, restaurants, a bowling alley, movie theater, and possibly a Ferris Wheel. Caine is already invested, having bought 10-acres of land adjacent to the jail.
