Make sure no one else is wearing your gown to the ball.

WASHINGTON -- A new Web site hopes to limit social nightmares by allowing women to "register" the gown they're wearing to a specific inaugural ball.

Andrew Jones of West Palm Beach, Fla., came up with DressRegistry.com. It includes a place to detail the color, length, designer, neckline description and other distinguishing characteristics. You can even upload a photo.

Jones said he got the idea after his wife went to New York City to buy a gown for a charity ball in their hometown -- just to avoid seeing the same dress at the event.

So far, inaugural partygoers have registered about 100 gowns for more than two dozen official and unofficial events.
