New figures from Addison-based Foreclosure Listing Service show more than 5,200 homes will be posted as foreclosure in December -- the eighth time this year monthly foreclosure postings were above 5,000.

With December's numbers included, the total for 2009 jumps to 61,000 homes filed for foreclosure; an increase of 23% from 2008's record totals.

"Going back to the late 1980s, foreclosure postings are much higher than then," Foreclosure Listing Service president George Roddy told the Dallas Morning News. "Records are set every time the list comes out."

Almost half of the listings repeat each month due to lenders modifying loans or delaying sales.
