When Sushi On McKinney shut its doors last summer after more than thirty years of business, loyal diners were disappointed. But it was time for former owner Ben Sanada to retire and sell the place to the current owner who goes by the name Fai (she used to wait tables at the old location). Newly opened in the old Cretia’s space, Sushi On McKinney is BYOB. It’s roomier than the old restaurant and there are some killer lunch specials, too. We recommend the following great deals the next time a sushi craving comes midday.

Sushi Queen: Nigiri (tuna, white meat fish, shrimp and octopus) Futomaki and California roll for $10.95.

Sushi King: larger portion Nigiri (tuna, white meat fish, shrimp and octopus) Futomaki and California roll for $11.95.

Beef/Tempera/Sushi Combo (broiled beef, mixed tempera, and sushi plus tuna) Shrimp and California roll for $11.95.

2 pieces of Tempura (five different meats and six different vegetable choices) for $1.95 each.

If you crave a spicy roll, try the Jaguar roll. Otherwise tasty apps include the Shu Mai, or deep fried meat balls and Tori-Kago (Japanese deep fried chicken nuggets). Lastly, their miso soup is served piping hot with a plethora of tofu cubes.
