In the past year, seen several North Texas restaurants have gone belly up, but new eateries are hoping to buck the trend, with big openings planned in Dallas in the coming week.

“I’m not nervous,” Yasmin Wages, Assistant General Manager of Park, said. “I’m incredibly excited.” The casual American restaurant on lower Henderson Avenue officially opens this weekend.

David Pedack opened Urbino Pizza e Pasta, also on Henderson, 3 days ago. That’s the same day Hard Rock Cafe opened near Victory Park. “The state of the economy is some of the reason we developed the concept,” Pedack said. Nothing on Urbino's menu of mostly pizza and pasta is over 15 dollars.

Park also touts modern-day pricing. ”If you’ve seen our menu you’ll note it is very value oriented,” Wages said.  “We wanted to offer people an outlet so that you don’t have to just sit at home.”

Dallas Diners will have a number of new options in the days ahead.

Split Peas Soup Cafe hopes to open Monday on McKinney avenue.

There is also a new sushi restaurant slated to open in West Village, a New York style deli in Preston Hollow and a Mexican restaurant in Knox-Henderson.
