Local Lela Rose Hits Big at Fashion Week

Lots of high-profile locals from our home state were seen at the tents supporting Dallas style star Lela Rose this weekend during New York's Fashion Week. Her Spring 2011runway at Lincoln Center showed lots of Lone Star love with Ken Downing in the front row and Dallas beauty R'el on her runway.

In the lobby, we were lucky enough to run into four of the best-dressed women in attendance (pictured above) -- Sunie Solomon of Dallas, Jacqueline Cavender of Tyler, and Jennifer Williamson and Kori Green of Fort Worth -- in dresses by Valentino, Dolce and Gabbana, Lela Rose, and Burberry. They had just finished up a short visit with Rose post-show.

"I loved all the oranges and nudes!" exclaimed Solomon. And these ladies know a thing or two about style -- they each have ties to the clothing and entertainment businesses that require trips to the boardroom, the fashion markets, and even the Grammys.

Other notable elements that caught their attention were the tulle-trimmed, burnout blouses and dresses in cream; the gypsum green color that popped up throughout the show and looked perfect trimmed in black; and the neutral, embossed and embroidered bustier dress with a full skirt that drew gasps from the crowd.

Our favorite things? The wedges and heels from Lela Rose for Payless. Incredibly adorable, inexpensive, and coming to stores and payless.com in February. The must buys of the collaboration are the Canevaro and Olivos styles in the nude or grey shades. We also loved the tweed, day-glow dresses in shades of citrus and the one-shoulder looks that stayed interesting thanks to textured fabrics and tucked skirts.

And Rose is a celeb favorite, too. Spotted front row were Jessica Lowndes of 90210 fame, Shantel VanSanten -- stealing the show in her white one-shoulder dress, actress Alison Brie, and fellow designer Christian Siriano.

Shop Lela Rose's current collection locally at Neiman Marcus, Stanley Korshak, and other select boutiques.
