Two heavily traveled roadways will be closed this weekend in both Dallas and Fort Worth.

In Dallas, Woodall Rogers will be closed at 11 p.m. Friday so that crews can tear down the Harwood Street Bridge to make way for the 5-acre park to be built over the freeway between downtown and uptown.  The freeway will reopen Monday at 5 a.m.

In addition to the freeway, most of the frontage roads will be closed except for two lanes between St. Paul and Pearl streets.

Woodall Rogers will be shut down next weekend as well, for the temporary removal of the westbound St. Paul exit ramp.

Area of Woodall Rodgers Freeway scheduled to be covered by the deck park.

The deck park is scheduled to open in 2012 and is funded by $45 million in private donations as well as $17 million in federal stimulus money.

In Fort Worth, crews will close southbound Interstate 820 at state Highway 287 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists will be detoured to northbound highway 287 to accommodate a bridge repair.

Motorists can re-enter southbound 820 by exiting Village Creek Road, U-turn and follow the frontage road until accessing southbound highway 287.

Northbound highway 287 will also be closed at the northbound 820/287 split for the bridge repair.  Northbound highway 287 motorists will be detoured to northbound 820 and can exit Berry Street, then U-turn to take southbound 820 back to highway 287.

Delays will be heavy, and motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes.
