Not that we would promote scantily clad women engaged in provocative dance, but scantily clad women engaged in provocative dance take two stages during the two-night Dallas Burlesque Festival [video alert, kids] this weekend.
The old-school ribald entertainment extravaganza, the third annual, kicks it tonight at 9:30 inside the Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff. Doors open at 9 p.m.
The performers move to the House of Blues downtown for the show starting at 8 p.m., Jan. 22.
Audience members must be at least 18 years old.
Don’t bother taking $20 bills, well, except for the bar. This isn’t that kind of stripping. It’s striptease, and there are subtle and not-so-subtle differences. Bottom line: the naughty bits stay somewhat covered, up on stage, and out of your face.
More than 40 tease-artists dance to classic burlesque, Vaudeville burlesque, and urban burlesque, a more modern version that incorporates a hip-hop soundtrack.
