Dallas will join 24 other cities around the world in Unsilent Night, a Christmas tradition started 18 years ago in New York City by Phil Kline.
On Tuesday, holiday revelers are invited to take part in a mass "sound sculpture" parade where participants will play one of four separate tracks of Christmas bells on a boom box -- with the three other tracks played simultaneously, they converge to form a block-wide stereophonic Christmas concert.
It's cool, it's Christmasy and you'll get weird stares from your friends when you pitch going to see performance art for an evening. It's worth checking out.
In Dallas, two shows will take place on Dec. 22. Those wishing to take part, or just witness the festivities, should meet at The Backbeat Cafe & Listening Room at 300 N. Akard Street at 7 p.m. Participants are encouraged to arrive a half-hour earlier.
A second show will take place at 8:30 p.m. This year marks the first year for the event in Dallas, who is joining other first-time performances is in Denver, Berlin and London.
