NEW FRIENDS: Opera is cool again in DFW. Well, it was always cool underneath all that for-old-people stigma, but with the opening of the Winspear Opera House at the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts, an evening of dinner and Otello looks as exciting as it actually is. So Amici di Opera, the Dallas Opera's club for young professionals, celebrates the resurgence of opera's place in the cultural literacy pool with a networking party hosted by Modern Luxury at the Winspear with wine and appetizers. LANDMARK CASE: Whatever side you've taken on Proposition 8, rake through the political debris and revisit the beginning of the movement for same-sex marriage: a wedding between two lesbians who'd been a couple for 51 years.
