10/25: Rick Springfield's Dinosaur Gospel

QUE GOSPEL THEME MUSIC: Kirk Franklin has music flowing through his soul, leading gospel choirs around the nation since he was 11 years old.  The gospel hit maker and host of BET’s “Sunday Best” is back in his native state for one night only at the Meyerson Symphony Center with all proceeds benefitting Central Dallas Ministries.  Adding his own brand of urban funk to the traditional Christian music of the past, Kirk Franklin put urban gospel on the mainstream map in the early ‘90s. Nine albums and seven Grammy Awards later, Kirk Franklin is devoting his time to take lessons learned in his own life to guide and connect with younger generations in person and through his new book “The Blueprint: A Plan For Living Above Life’s Storms.” See the new author and gospel leader tonight at 8 p.m.

A LATE NIGHT APPEARANCE: Rick Springfield was infatuated with Jessie’s Girl in the ‘80s and now he wants to let go of his Jessie obsession and reveal some behind the music truth about his life in his new autobiography “Late, Late at Night.” The pop rock Australian went from ‘80s music video cool guy to daytime drama regular on the soap opera “General Hospital,” but off camera, the usually put together Springfield battled depression in the midst of his success and is now finding peace in his private life. Read about and meet Mr. Springfield tonight at the Barnes & Noble Lincoln Park location in Dallas where he will be singing copies of his book at 7 p.m.

PREHISTORIC EXHIBIT: Take a trip back in time, almost 65 million years ago, and prepare for a larger-than-life prehistoric encounter. Dinosaurs Unearthed is a traveling exhibition currently on display at Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas. The exhibit features life-size animatronic dinosaurs, fossil collections and fully-intact skeletons – all found from paleontologists around the world. At this display you can control some of the animatronic dinosaur action with the push of a button. This epic prehistoric adventure will be at the museum until May 1, 2011.
