TOAST TO 'PSYCHO': Hitchcocktober is on at Mockingbird Station, and that means Psycho will screen tonight in the outdoor pavilion as unsuspecting shoppers pass. The Station folks are putting nothing -- not money, not total sobriety -- between patrons and a good scare. A pre-party at PURE Dental loosens up fans of ol' Alfred with free cocktails at 6:30PM; the movie (also free) starts at 8PM.

CRACK A CASE: Hunt down hints of berry and floral notes at a whodunit blind tasting wine dinner at Maximo Cocina Mexicana & Margarita Lounge. La Cena Y Vinos Misteriosos features five courses with an appetizer intro -- Lobster Empanadas, Aguja al Mole and Pollo al Pastor all make appearances. The bottled culprits all come from Glazer's Domaines & Estates. Reservations required: 972.233.5656. 6:30PM.

EXPLORE PUNK HISTORY: Who would've guessed one of the first consistent New Wave/punk radio shows in the U.S. came out of KNTU, the University of North Texas radio station and right hand to the school's renowned jazz program? "Reel" George Gimarc brought The Smiths and U2 to DFW airwaves with "The Rock & Roll Alternative," which moved on to commercial radio in 1980 and brought the host to KDGE as music director before its format changed to Top 40. Hear Gimarc's survey of the punk era and riff on music of the '50s and '60s at Allen Public Library, 7PM. Free.
