The company that makes the personalized license plates for Texas is going out of business.

The state entered into a agreement with My Plates in August to design personalized license plates for Texas drivers.

The company announced Thursday it will no longer operate in Texas, citing the tough economy.

The vanity plates already in use will remain valid.

My Plates said it will fill its pending orders, about 1,300 plates.

The state is looking for another company to partner with for personalized license plates.
