Toyota will debut several new green cars at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show (Sept. 15 to Sept. 27), including a PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) version of the 2010 Toyota Prius, as well as the Auris HSD Full Hybrid concept.

The Prius Plug-in Hybrid concept will expand the current car's ability to travel on electric power alone, to the point where a driver could run it exclusively without the gas motor for typical "short range" day-to-day driving. It's possible this concept will be the first production Prius to sport a lithium-ion battery pack (like the $109,000 Tesla Roadster).

In addition, the Toyota Auris HSD Full Hybrid Concept will appear at the show. Essentially, it's a small four-door hatchback that looks kind of like the Nissan Leaf EV and based on the Lexus HS250h. The Auris will likely stay overseas, at least for now.
