The 16th annual Puttin' on the Pink luncheon in Fort Worth raised almost $250,000 on Tuesday to provide health services for women in need.

The Kupferle Health Board packed the ballroom at the Fort Worth Convention Center with almost 1,000 guests.

They were treated to mimosas, a spring fashion show put on by Saks Fifth Avenue, lunch consisting of spring greens, chicken annette and napoleon genoise and a memorable runway appearance by women who have survived breast cancer.

Mike Snyder, who hosted the event again this year, said he is a dedicated volunteer because breast cancer has touched his family.

"I am even more motivated to do all we can this year because the mother of two precious children who attend school with my children just finished an agressive course of chemotherapy," he said.  "Today is a big day of celebration for her family because doctors removed her central line. That means chemo is done and did its job."

Money raised from the event will go to free screening mammograms and breast diagnostic evaluations for women throughout Tarrant County who are unable to otherwise get them. The money will also help pay for cervical, colon and bone density screenings.

Since 1991, Puttin' on the Pink has raised more than $2.6 million.

The Kupferle Health Board was established in 1990 in memory of breast cancer patient Dois Kupferle.
