Fans of Movin' 107.5 stopped their groove at 1 PM Tuesday, as CBS Radio announced it reformatted the station to be a Spanish language Hot Adult Contemporary station.

In fact, CBS Radio is claimed the new MEGA 107.5 will be the "first and only Spanish language Hot Adult Contemporary station." Though we're admittedly not Spanish language radio listeners, we have no idea why this format would be that different from CASA 106.7

CBS Radio saw a market opportunity, though, claiming 24% of DFW's population is Hispanic.

Full Press Release:

Today at 1 PM, KMVK-FM becomes Dallas/Fort Worth’s  first and only Spanish language Hot Adult Contemporary station with the launch of the new ‘MEGA 107.5-FM.’

To celebrate the launch, ’MEGA 107.5-FM’ will air 10,000 songs in a row from core artists such as Mana, Juanes, Shakira, Reik, Gloria Trevi, Marc Anthony, Paulina Rubio, Enrique Iglesias, Alejandro Fernandez, among others. The station is designed to reach DFW Spanish language primary adults aged 25-54 and will be streamed around the world at www.mega1075.com and on mobile devices, including the iPhone and Blackberry.

"We are thrilled to bring Hispanic listeners throughout Dallas/Fort Worth a station they can call their own,” said Brian Purdy, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, CBS RADIO Dallas/Fort Worth. “MEGA’s’ sound will be unique to the market and something we fully expect the Hispanic community will immediately embrace."

The Metroplex is one of the largest Hispanic markets in the United States, making up 24% of the city’s total population.

UPDATE: Robert Wilonsky at Unfair Park talked to CBS Radio VP Brian Purdy about the change. (click here to read) The gist of the story? "Movin' was a great station, but this was a major unfilled need," said Purdy.
